WHAT IS BEET?

It is a herbaceous plant species from the spinach family. It is a two-year plant. This plant, which has many benefits in terms of health, is easy to find because it grows naturally in our country. Their length varies between 20-50 cm. The sugar beet, whose roots are removed, is sent to the factories after being cleaned.


NUTRITIONAL VALUES OF BEET

Beets contain sucrose and betaine. If its water is consumed, various vitamins and minerals can be taken. Beets are very low in fat. It contains vitamin A, vitamin C, some of the B group vitamins and antioxidants. Compared to spinach, its iron content is quite high. Apart from these, it contains sodium, sulfur, calcium, copper, iodine, natural sugar and potassium. Adequate levels of folic acid and magnesium are also present in beets.

Beet; It is rich in folic acid, potassium, iron.


BENEFITS OF RED BEET


INHIBITOR: It contains a betalain group substance that is not found in many foods and protects cells, enzymes and proteins. This substance has great benefits in protecting internal organs and preventing chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases.


AGAINST CANCER: It has been found effective in preventing and slowing the progression of large intestine, stomach, nervous system, lung, breast, prostate cancers in the experiments done by joining the drinking water of animals.


DETOX EFFECT: It is known to help cleanse the blood and purify the liver from toxins.


HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE LOWERING EFFECT: In some studies, it has been shown that the substance called nitrate in beets turns into nitric oxide in the body, dilating the vessels, facilitating blood circulation and reducing blood pressure.


ENSURING DURABILITY: It is known that beet juice drunk before exercise increases endurance and gives vigor to exercise.




  •  Beet juice is useful for ease of digestion. The carbohydrates in beets are easily digestible, natural carbohydrates. However, it is also used in the treatment of diseases such as constipation, hemorrhoids, diarrhea, vomiting for the same reasons.


  •  Many studies have been conducted to determine how beet juice affects cardiovascular diseases. As a result of the researches, it has been determined that the nitrate substance in its content prevents the high pressure problem.


  •  It has been determined that bad cholesterol, which is dangerous for cardiovascular health, is reduced to low levels thanks to beet juice. However, it has been explained that it also increases good cholesterol.


  •  It is known that beets are beneficial in preventing dangerous diseases such as varicose veins and high blood pressure, which are circulatory problems.


  •  Regular consumption of beet, especially its juice, prevented and supported skin problems such as skin inflammations, acne, dandruff. It is also known to be effective in removing previously formed stains. When applied as a mask, it affects the shining and moisturizing of the skin.


  •  The antioxidant substance called betacyanin helps to remove the toxins and all harmful toxins that cause tumors to form from the body. Elimination of toxins is important in the prevention of cancer diseases.


  •  The presence of folic acid in its content reduces the possibility of babies born with defects when consumed during pregnancy. Today, pregnant women use folic acid as a medicine.

BEET VARIETIES

There are several types of beets. Usage areas also vary accordingly. The most common types of beet are;

Sugar beet; The roots of this beet type, which is used to obtain sugar, are quite fleshy and tuber. It contains 12-20% sucrose.


Red Beet; Red beet, the most known and consumed type, is generally preferred for making pickles. Red beet, which has round roots and an eye-catching color, is consumed as a vegetable.

Chard; This type of beet, similar to spinach, is very easy to digest and is a vegetable with high nutritional value. It is also known as wild beet.


Feed Beet; This species, which resembles more red beet, is generally preferred as animal feed because of its low nutritional value.
